Blog 6: Change to my study programme

Hello,

I like the actual programme for my career, but at the same I think this program would be obsolete in the future. Why? because journalism is linked directly with the society that evolve all time... and the ways to make good journalism evolve at the same time. For example,  digital journalism is the currently way, probably this can be part of the future but we never can know more because it is hard to predict the future.

If I have the "power" to change the current program I probably insert something related with the social skills that a good journalist needs, like talk in public or make uncomfortable questions. Today the programme has courses that teach part of this  but not only for this and I think this could be so enjoyable.

Today the career takes five years, (if you don't fail in some semester). I heard many times the career should be take only three years but public politics contemplate all careers in Chile  have five years for minimum duration.

About the academic charge… sometimes I feel very bad and sad about it because it is too much… but not always because I love it and I really enjoy learning about it.

ICEI probably does not have the best equipment or infrastructure for the times, although the last time that I went to university one building  was under construction and looked so nice… I really hope to have classes there… But the best of ICEI in my opinion is the teachers, they are incredible. I really like to learn from people that loves so much what they do  that transmite the passion for journalism (I'm really grateful for that).

This is everything for this last blog for english IV. Hope you like… thanks for read!

Blog 5: Personal opinions

¿what is your opinion about tattoos?

I think tattoos express art. In the end the skin becomes a canvas, where the person relies on an artist to mark it with ink during a generally painful but bearable process.

Society tends to have prejudiced with people who have many tattoos, especially those who openly wear them. Like if wearing them makes you a worse person, but it's not. Often having tattoos can be typical of the person's style and taste, but at the same time it can be for cultural issues. In fact, women of Maori culture are known for their ritual tattoos in face.

In my free time I like to see works by Chilean and international tattooists. My favorites are: @polillatattoo (Polilla) and @mardenanquim (Jacque López). Polilla is a Chilean tattoo artist and Jacque Lopéz is from Portugal. His works are with thin black lines, usually without colors or with red tones and with pointillism.

I have only one tattoo to date (I hope I have more). On my back I have a hummingbird. I got this tattoo with my mom when I found out I'd made it into the career I wanted and for this I'd go live to another city. For me tattoos are symbolism that represent periods or nice things in life. Although I think is valid getting a tattoo for personal aesthetics or any other reason.

*I was tattooed at Estudio El Bosque. I recommend them because they are very good tattooists and nice people.*

Blog 4: My Future Job

Hi!

In the future I would like to work doing investigations about communication or maybe doing  journalism classes. I really like teaching. After the October revolution I volunteered to prepare a group of young people for the PSU 2019. The experience was so good, I hope I get that feeling in the future.

I like outdoor and indoor activities. I think good journalism work involves these two kinds of activities. So, I wait to participate in this in the next eventuality.

I love travel and journalism. If I can mix those things in my life I will be the happiest person in the world. So, I really hope to travel for my job when I be a professional.

In the next semesters I would like to study investigative journalism because I think that is a funny part of the job and I really like.

Being a journalist in Chile isn't an easy profession because we are many  and sometimes it is hard to get a job. For this reason I will not feel bad. If I work in other kinds of journalism, like radio, tv or magazines, I’ll be satisfied because I love this profession. I will be happy in all the possible cases if I work in something related to this.n all the possible cases if I work in something related to this.
